Lymphedema Emergencies and Complications
Essential information to help you determine if you have a complication or lymphedema related emergency that requires immediate medical treatment.
- Burns of Lymphedema Affected Tissues
- First degree burns, also known as superficial burns, cause redness but not blisters or breaks in the skin. Follow the minor burn procedure below and have the burn evaluated by a medical professional.
More serious burns, or first degree burns over an area larger than 2 inches in diameter, may require professional care. Call 911 or your local medical emergency number.
- Lymphedema Related Infections
The prompt, and correct, treatment of an infection that is developing in a lymphedema affected limb is essential!
