Lymphedema Emergencies and Complications

Essential information to help you determine if you have a complication or lymphedema related emergency that requires immediate medical treatment.

Burns of Lymphedema Affected Tissues
First degree burns, also known as superficial burns, cause redness but not blisters or breaks in the skin. Follow the minor burn procedure below and have the burn evaluated by a medical professional.

More serious burns, or first degree burns over an area larger than 2 inches in diameter, may require professional care. Call 911 or your local medical emergency number.
