sentinel node biopsy

Glossary definition--

sentinel node biopsy
The injection of a dye and/or radioactive isotope near a tumor and tracing lymph flow to the most closely connected lymph node (sentinel node). If cancer is not found in the sentinel node, it indicates that cancer has not spread to other lymph nodes.
