LE and broken bones

I need some advice...my daughter's wrist was stepped on by another child at daycare yesterday. She is 27 months old and has LE confined to her left ankle and foot. They said that her wrist swelled pretty significantly and they were afraid it was broken. They put ice on it and within an hour the swelling had reduced almost to zero and she was using it. I took her to the doctor and an x-ray showed no obvious breaks. Could the swelling have been caused by her LE? What affect would LE have on a broken bone or sprain? Any advice would be extremely helpful.
